LyricFlow

2026 · Desktop App · Music

Floating, word-by-word synced lyrics for Windows — works with whatever is playing, from Spotify to YouTube Music in your browser.

Overview

LyricFlow is a lightweight Windows app that shows the lyrics of the song you are playing as a floating overlay, highlighting each word as it is sung. It listens to the Windows media controls, so it works with Spotify, YouTube Music in the browser, Apple Music and most other players without any plugin or login.

Its default Kinetic style stacks the words on screen with a tilt, varied sizes and a small pop-in, like a lyric video. A calmer Classic style is also included, and a full-screen mode turns the whole display into a lyrics screen.

The Problem

Lyrics are rarely where you are working: they sit in another tab or app, and most players either lack them or only scroll whole lines instead of following the singing.

Key Features

  • Detects the current track and playback position through the Windows System Media Transport Controls — no per-player integration
  • Time-synced lyrics from the free LRCLIB service, cached locally after the first play
  • Picks the lyric version that best matches the track length, and cleans up titles like "(Official Video)" and "(feat. …)" before searching
  • Word-by-word timing estimated from each line, including Japanese and Chinese text
  • Kinetic and Classic styles with fonts, colours, size, opacity and timing offset all adjustable
  • Global hotkey, system-tray menu, draggable overlay and a full-screen lyrics mode
  • Self-contained single .exe — no installer and no .NET needed
  • Unit-tested core: lyric parsing and matching, caching, timing, playback clock and settings
